List of channels on Saorview and Saorsat (Ireland)
Saorview
Saorview (/ˈsɛərvjuː/ SAIR-vyoo) is the national digital terrestrial television (DTT) service in Ireland. It is owned by RTÉ and operated by 2RN.
The service began operation on 29 October 2010 on a trial basis with a full launch on 26 May 2011. By legislation it was required to be available to approximately 90% of the population by end of October 2010 in a public testing capacity and nationwide by December 2011. The national public launch was preceded by a public information campaign, which began on 15 March 2011, with television and radio advertising beginning on 17 March 2011.
Saorview was officially launched on 26 May 2011 by then Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources Pat Rabbitte and the service became the primary source of broadcast television in Ireland following the ending of analogue transmissions on 24 October 2012.
The most recent channels to launch were TG4+1 and Cúla4 in September 2023.
Saorsat

Saorsat (/ˈsɛərsæt/ SAIR-sat) is the free-to-air satellite service for Ireland. It is run by 2RN (formerly called RTÉNL) a subsidiary of RTÉ and is designed to compliment the digital terrestrial television (DTT) service, Saorview.
Saorsat was launched for the 2% of households that cannot receive Saorview due to not being able to get good DTT reception due to terrain issues. Saorsat mirrors the Irish DTT PSB multiplex, with the exception of Virgin Media One, Virgin Media Two, Virgin Media Three and Sky News which are only available on Saorview. There is the possibility of other broadcasters joining the service in the future but as the intended audience is small, this may not be viable for commercial channels.
Saorsat is available on the Eutelsat KA-SAT 9A, which is a narrow-band satellite with a spot beam over Ireland.
Because of frequency re-use on adjacent spot beams for other countries, it is difficult to receive Saorsat service outside of the Irish footprint. The satellite setting parameters are:
