Discovery+
Discovery+ (pronounced "Discovery Plus"; stylised as discovery+) is the United Kingdom and Ireland version of the American subscription video-on-demand streaming service owned by Warner Bros. Discovery. The service offers a catalogue of factual and unscripted programming drawn primarily from Discovery's portfolio of television brands—including Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, TLC, Food Network and Investigation Discovery, alongside original productions, local commissions, and selected acquired content.
The service launched in the United Kingdom and Ireland in November 2020, initially as a standalone platform focusing on non-fiction genres such as documentary, lifestyle, true crime and reality programming. It also incorporated sports content from Warner Bros. Discovery’s sports portfolio at launch, although this has since been restructured and integrated into other services.
Following the formation of Warner Bros. Discovery in 2022, Discovery+ became part of the company's wider direct-to-consumer strategy. With the launch of HBO Max in the United Kingdom and Ireland in March 2026, selected Discovery+ content began to be incorporated into HBO Max, while Discovery+ continues to operate as a standalone service and as part of bundled offerings with pay television providers such as Sky.
The service is available on a range of platforms, including web browsers, mobile devices, smart televisions and streaming hardware, and is typically offered via both ad-supported and ad-free subscription tiers depending on the provider and distribution agreement.

HBO Max
HBO Max is a subscription video-on-demand streaming service operated by Warner Bros. Discovery that launched in the United Kingdom and Ireland on 26 March 2026. The service offers a catalogue of television series, films and live sports content from HBO, Warner Bros., DC Studios and Max Originals, marking the first time the full HBO Max platform has been made directly available to consumers in these territories.
HBO Max's arrival in the UK and Ireland was delayed for several years due to a long-term output agreement between HBO and Sky, signed in 2019, which granted Sky exclusive first-run rights to HBO programming. Following the expiration of this deal in late 2025, Warner Bros. Discovery proceeded with a direct-to-consumer launch as part of HBO Max's wider European rollout, which had begun in 2021. The UK and Ireland launch completed the service's expansion across Europe, making the platform available in over 100 territories worldwide.
